Incumbent Member of Parliament for Salima North West Constituency Jessie Kabwila has won primary elections and she will represent United Transformation Movement (UTM) in the forthcoming May 21 tripartite election.

Kabwila went unopposed after her strong contender Moses Buwa failed to pay the K50, 000 nomination fee for the polls.

The elections were supposed to be conducted on 3 January but were postponed to allow Kabwila participate.

Speaking in an interview with the press, Kabwila said she will do everything possible to woe votes for UTM President Saulos Chilima in the forthcoming polls.

“Now that I have won the primaries. I will fight hard to ensure Chilima sail through in the polls,” said Kabwila.

Kabwila dumped the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) last month after losing the primaries in the constituency.
