Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) has distanced itself from the Virgil which some of teachers are staging at Capital Hill in Lilongwe.
The group of self-upgraded teachers has resumed its virgil at the Ministry of Education headquarters as a way of pressing the government to promote them after attaining diplomas and degrees.
Teachers Union of Malawi General Secretary Charles Kumchenga said the teachers have flouted proper procedures of dealing with the matter because the union is still in negotiations with the government on the issue.
In his remarks a representative of the group of teachers Dokiso Munthali said he expects the Ministry of Education to resolve the issue now or they will seek audience with the head of state.
