The High Court in Lilongwe has found ten people guilty on charges of conspiracy, theft and money laundering.
The ten were answering cashgate-related cases after stealing K201million in 2011.
Cornelius Kaphamtengo, Yvonie Kaphamtengo, Chikondi Chimutu, Emmanuel Yesaya and six others were facing trial before judge Charles Mkandawire.
The money was received through the account of Nova Technology, a business entity by the Kaphamtengos.
The judge has however, acquitted Audney Kamtengeni, who was the second accused in the matter.
Conrad Nambala, the 8th accused person, according to judge Charles Mkandawire, seemed to be the epicentre of the crime.
Other people who have been found guilty are Deusdedit Tenthani, Tendai Nayeja, Square Chakwana, Wides Mbuliro and Tapiwa Ng’oma.
The case could be deemed as the genesis of Cashgate as the civil servants took advantage of weaknesses in the Integrated Financial Management Information System (Ifmis) to steal and launder millions.
