United Transformation Movement (UTM) National Youth Director Bon Kalindo will this afternoon appear before the Zomba Magistrate Court to answer charges of conduct likely to cause breach of peace at Balaka Police Station last weekend.
Kalindo, popularly known as Winiko was arrested on Thursday for allegedly taking a leading role to insult the Country’s President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika when two aides of the Vice President and leader of the UTM Saulos Chilima were in police custody.
Police have transferred Mulanje South Member of Parliament Bon Kalindo from their headquarters in Lilongwe to the Eastern Region Police Headquarters in Zomba.
UTM Spokesperson Joseph Chidanti Malunga confirmed of the transfer in an interview with the press, saying Kalindo is expected to appear in court today in Zomba.
The arrest of Kalindo has attracted public outcry with many calling for his immediate release.
In a statement made available to faceofmalawi opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera described the arrest as uncalled for.
