Former Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Energy and Mining in late Bingu wa Mutharika’s Administration says when voted into power in May 21 tripartite elections, he will continue to develop his area as he did during his tenure from 2004 to 2009.

Speaking in interview, Jimmy Banda who is contesting as Independent Parliamentarian candidate for Blantyre City South said he developed the area by  constructing bridges, school blocks, fence at Zingwangwa healthy Centre, Zingwangwa and Chitawira primary schools, buit Manase police Unit, constructing road network infrastructures with tarmac just to mention but a few.

“When am voted into power I promise the voters that 40 percent for Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will go for development while 60 percent will be helping people to uplift their welfare like forming Small Business Enterprises.

He said the ten years he has stayed outside the parliament, people in the area were starving and were coming to his home asking for assistance hence opted to join politics again to help them much better.

“During my time as Member Parliamentarian for Blantyre City South constituency, I had a coffin work shop which I used to help people in the area and I will continue to help them,” he said, adding that he will create job opportunities for the youths who are just looming around and opt for immoral behavior like chamba smoking, drug abuse and early marriages for the girls.

Banda also said when voted into power he will lobby to other fellow parliamentarians to introduce Chichewa Language in parliament as it is an official language in the country from Monday to Wednesday and English from Thursday to Friday.
