Police in Nkhata Bay District are keeping in custody a 38-year-old man for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his 16-year old biological daughter at Chombe area in the district.
Nkhatabay district police station public relations officer, Kondwani James confirmed the incident and said the second wife to the suspect found the two having sex in the bush on January 29, 2019.
The matter was reported to village authorities who later on informed police.
“The suspect Mr. Dennis Banda, told police that in 2012, he visited a herbalist in Mzuzu to help him boost his business financially.
“The herbalist assured him the possibility of getting rich. He told the suspect that his charms work perfectly when one sleeps with his own daughter,” said the PRO.
It is reported that Banda accepted to manage the ordeal. He went home and contacted his first born daughter about this but the daughter denied.
“However, Banda approached his third born daughter who was very young at that time. At first, she refused but since last year later, she involuntarily accepted allegedly due to threats.
“It is alleged that the second wife first caught the two in the act early January, 2018. However, the matter was not reported to authorities, “added James.
Meanwhile, Mr Banda has been placed in police custodty and will soon appear in court to answer an offence of Incest which is contrary to Section 150 of the Penal Code.
He comes from Kanyera Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kawamba in Kasungu District
