Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that aspiring Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Central Constituency, Mr Bashir Goba has died in car accident.

MCP’s Regional Chairman for the South Mr. Peter Simbi confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

According to Simbi, the aspirant died after the car he was driving was involved in a head on collision near Stella Maris Bridge in Blantyre on Wednesday night.

Goba was scheduled to present his nomination papers on Friday.

The development means MCP has to come up with another shadow MP to replace the deceased before the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) closes the process of receiving nomination papers to candidates on Friday.

Malawi will hold is second tripartite election on May 21, 2019.
