Members of the Muslim community will on Saturday start observing the month of Ramadan, during which Muslims across the world fast and pray with a reflection on current issues.
According to officials of the Muslim Association, the fasting failed to start on Friday because the moon was not sighted.
Meanwhile, members of the Muslim community are calling for unity and a prayerful nation as they prepare for the period.
National coordinator of the Islamic Information Bureau Sheik Dinala Chabulika made the appeal a few days ago after a media mosque tour organised for non-Muslim journalists.
The tour took the journalists to Madina mosque in Limbe, where they had an opportunity of learning how routine Islamic teachings are conducted.
Chabulika said the event was organised to address some misconceptions that the society at large associate with the Muslim community.
