Malawi National Association of the Deaf (MANAD) has asked electoral stakeholders to raise civic education on elections to the deaf community.

According to MANAD programs manager Bruno Mwase, the deaf community is failing to access electoral information because the messages are not being portrayed in an accessible format for the deaf.

Mwase said information on election is very crucial as it will help everyone exercise their right to vote without difficulties.

He added that 2 of its members have submitted nomination papers to contest on the position of councilor.

Mwase has also condemned people who are de-meaning the deaf people who have shown interest to contest on various positions.
