Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has called for collective efforts in eliminating malnutrition in the country.
Minister responsible Francis Kasaila has made the call in Blantyre during the launch of the Scaling up Nutrition Sun Business Network Malawi.
After the launch Kasaila said it is a great development to see the private sector joining government in ending malnutrition.
The minister further said government is putting much effort to reduce stunted growth from 37 percent in 2017 to 32 percent by 2035.
Chief Executive officer for Malawi Confederation Chambers of Commerce and Industry MCCCI Chancellor Kaferapanjira commended Sun Business Network Malawi for mobilizing partners in the private sector to make sure that Malawi is malnutrition free.
Kaferapanjira said Malawi is losing a lot of billions through unproductive people due to malnutrition.
He assured the Business Network that MCCCI will help in coordinating the business community to join the network.
In his remarks, chairperson of Sun Business Network Malawi Oswald Bwemba urged food processing companies to produce food items that are nutritious.
He asked the business community to join the network saying there are many benefits.
Theme of the launch is Promoting Nutrition through Private Sector Engagement for National Development.
