All is set for the first Presidential runningmate debate ahead of the country’s second tripartite election scheduled for May 21, 2019, faceofmalawi can reveal.

The debate will first be held at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital Lilongwe and later the debate will be held in the commercial capital Blantyre.

One of the organizers Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) Managing Director Gospel Kazako confirmed of the development in an interview with MIJ FM radio.

According to Kazako, all runningmates from five major political parties namely Malawi Congress Party (MCP), United Democratic Front (UDF), People’s Party (PP), United Transformation Movement (UTM) and the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have confirmed participation.

He said the event is a red-carpet and participation is strictly by invitation.

Kazako then advised all invited guest to be seated by 6pm as the debate is scheduled to commence by 6:30pm and will be beamed live on Zodiak television, Times television and State owned Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC tv).

MCP will be represented by Muhammad Sidik Mia, PP by Jerry Jana, UTM by Michael Usi, UDF by Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo and the ruling DPP will be represented by Overton Chimulirenji.

Meanwhile rumours are live that Chimulirenji will not take part in the debate.
