Police in Mzimba are keeping in custody a 15 year-old boy for stabbing to death his fellow standard 6 pupil at Kaphuta Primary School in the district.
“Circumstances surrounding the murder are that the child in conflict with the law wrote a nickname of the deceased on the blackboard.
When the class teacher reported in the classroom and asked who had written the name, the child in conflict with the law reported that it was Hestings Kasoni (now deceased).” Police Station PRO Botha Peter Mzimba narrated.
This did not go down well with the deceased who slapped his friend in retaliation.
“The child in conflict with the law then left the class and went home where he brought a sharp knife.
At break time (10:00hrs), he confronted the deceased and stabbed him twice in the chest.
The deceased was rushed to Mzimba District Hospital for medical attention where he died while receiving treatment.” Botha added.
A postmortem report shows that death was due to loss of blood secondary to stubbed wounds.
Kasoni 17, hailed from Kanawani Village in the area of Traditional Authority Champiti in Ntcheu District.
The child in conflict with the law is still in police custody and will appear in court soon.
