Police in Blantyre have arrested a suspected Hard core criminal Hassan Banda who escaped police custody at Limbe Police two months ago.

Southern Region Police Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent Nicolus Gondwa has confirmed the arrest. Superintendent Gondwa said the suspect has been re-arrested in Machinjiri Blantyre where he has been hiding following a tip from the general public.

The Suspect is connected with several armed robbery cases in both Lilongwe and Blantyre. Southern Region Police Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent Nicolus Gondwa The arrest comes, after police also arrested suspected criminals believed to have been terrorising Blantyre residents and have recovered a rifle.

There has been an outcry from Malawians recently following an increase in armed robbery and murder cases despite authorities assuring the nation of maximum security.
