A case in which former minister of Home Affairs and Internal security Uladi Mussa is answering charges of issuing Malawi passports to foreign nationals, is nearing completion after prosecution has finished parading its witnesses at Lilongwe high court.
Exton Kamkwete an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) principle investigator, and the 16th witness submitted to court memos, bank deposit slips and letters of application of foreign nationals.
The state prosecutor Kamudoni Nyasulu told the court that he (Kamkwete) was the last witness and said the evidence will help to prove beyond doubt that Mussa now Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) central region vice president committed a criminal act by illegally issuing passports to foreign nationals.
The evidence shows that some Rwandans, Burundians and Ugandans were given business and residence permits following transaction done at ministerial level.
“We have presented our case and objective material evidence, what is remaining is the court to determine whether the suspect has a case to answer or not,” said Nyasulu.
Mussa handed himself to the ACB after reports surfaced that the bureau wanted to arrest him in relation to granting of citizenship and passports.
