Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that former Vice President Dr. Cassim Chilumpha camp of Tikonze People’s Movement stormed the offices of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) protesting the High Court ruling to disqualify Chilimpha from the forthcoming Presidential race.

Chilumpha’s camp delivered a verbal petition to the electoral body seeking the Commission’s stand on the matter.

The court yesterday ruled that Chilumpha should not represent Tikonze People’s Movement in the May 21 polls after some members of TPM sued MEC.

The grouping argued that Chilimpha did not follow proper procedures in filing his nomination papers, saying TPM endorsed Dr. Saulos Chilima of United Transformation Movement (UTM).

The grouping said it will not be proper for the movement to be represented by two Presidential candidates (Chilima and Chilumpha).

Meanwhile MEC has said it will follow the High Court order.
