Opposition Peoples Party (PP) has resolved to support Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate for Nkhotakota Central Constituency following the death of Andrew Justice Mlotha who was the shadow parliamentarian for the party.

PP National Publicity Secretary Ackson Kalaile Banda confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi reporter.

“Following the death of our shadow MP for Nkhotakota Central Constituency, Mr Andrew Justus Mlota, and Peoples Party would like to inform its membership and all stakeholders that it will not field another parliamentary candidate at the May 21 Tripartite elections.

“This decision has been arrived at in view of the little time remaining in which a new candidate can be nominated and campaign competitively for the seat,” wrote Banda

He added: The party hereby endorses Malawi Congress Party candidate, Mr Peter Mazizi. All PP supporters are advised to campaign and vote for Mr Mazizi as member of Parliament for Nkhotakota Central Constituency on May 21.”

Mlotha died suddenly on Monday at Daeyang Hospital in Lilongwe.
