United Transformation Movement (UTM) Party has expressed shock over the death of its shadow Member of Parliament for Lilongwe South West constituency Mrs Agness Nandau Penemulungu.

Penemulungu died on Monday afternoon in the capital Lilongwe.

In a statement posted on its official facebook page, the party said it is saddened with the untimely death of Penemulungu.

“With a heavy heart and deepest sadness, we the entire UTM party for all Malawians are grieved with the death of one truly patriotic UTM aspirant candidate for Lilongwe South West constituency Mrs Agness Nandau Penemulungu,” reads in part the statement.

On her part, UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliati said funeral details are  yet to be made available as the party is still consulting with Penemulungu’s family.

Penemulungu was the last person to interact with late President Bingu Wa Mutharika before he collapsed in his office at State House in Lilongwe in April 2012.
