United Transformation Movement (UTM) running mate Micheal Usi said their first assignment once voted into power is to train Members of Parliament (MP) who will win on their ticket in proposal writing for extra funds in their constituencies.

Usi made the remarks in Zomba central constituency where he was campaigning for UTM’s patron Noel Masangwi.

He said the motive of training legislators in propels writing is to help them plan for the developments they will need in their areas.

“The MPs will have to be trained in proposal writing because they will be able to plan development projects to the needs of their areas,” said Usi.

He added that Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and District Development Fund (DDF) are not enough to reach robust development in the country.

“Sometimes CDF and DDF are sort of imposed by government to fulfill its macro objectives and so with the MPOs having their own resources it will be easier for them to decide on how best to use them,” said Usi.

He further added that UTM will not be doing politics of vengeance as their aim is to develop the country. +U6
