The faith community has a big role to play in curbing the spread of the HIV virus, hence the need for church leaders and believers in Malawi to open up on sexuality issues, representatives of the Blantyre Synod of the CCAP church said.
A lot of churches and worship gatherings shun talking about sexuality therefore creating room for sexual malpractice among members of their respective congregations.
The Synod is currently running a sensitization campaign for married couples from their respective churches to train them on how they can raise awareness on HIV and Aids issues in their communities.
Speaking during a workshop underway in Luchenza, the synod’s representatives responsible for health said “if people are able to talk about sexuality it will be easy to carry out prevention programs within the clergy.”
The workshop which is expected to run for 6 days has attracted about 24 couples from different parts of the synods jurisdiction
