A man of God has been arraigned in Kwale Court and charged of being in possession of KSh 10,000 fake money.

Pastor John Kivuti of Lamu based Jesus Winners Chapel Church was charged on Monday, May 13, and pleaded guilty when he appeared before Kwale Chief Magistrate Dominica Nyambu.

Kivuti was arrested on Tuesday, May 7, after he had deposited KSh 2,000 fake money.

On realising the money was not genuine, Mpesa agent, Juma Bwika, ran after the pastor and managed to catch up with him before he confronted him over the counterfeit cash he had deposited.

He was arrested by police and taken into custody. Upon search he produced another KSh 8,000 was fake

The state prosecutor told the court that the money had been sent to the Central Bank of Kenya for verification and it was found that the notes lacked a signature.

However, the court withheld its ruling on the case until a pre-sentence report is presented by the probation department.
