President Emmerson Mnangagwa may soon face an impeachment motion from a certain faction of ZANU PF members of parliament a source in the Office of the President and Cabinet has revealed, according to Bulawayo24.
Bulawayo24 reports that a highly placed source in the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation in Gweru said that a number of ZANU PF MPs who are aligned to a faction linked to Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga was openly plotting to unseat President Emmerson Mnangagwa using a parliamentary process.
“Mkoma, the President is in trouble with some of his lawmakers who are not happy with his conduct,” the source said. “Reports on our table indicate that if things are not handled well there might be an impeachment motion moved in parliament.
“What you must understand is that there is too much factionalism in the party and fortunately we get to receive the information because of our office. What I can confidentially tell you of is that the faction of ZANU PF that wanted the President removed by 2020 is now itching for a dramatic exit of HE through a VONC.”
The source informed Bulawa24 that while the MPs are reportedly linked to Dr Chiwenga, it is not clear whether he is directly involved in the recent machinations.
“I cannot at this stage authoritatively tell you whether Number 2 is involved in the impeachment plot but what I can say is that two candidates are being touted to replace HE if the motion goes through. The names are VaGono and Mkoma Tyson (Saviour Kasukuwere).”
During the 2018 election campaign, Mnangagwa revealed that he knows of a plot by ZANU PF MPs to impeach him.
