Tobacco sales have briefly been stopped at Kabwafu Flue Tobbacco Authority in Mzimba District after farmers expressed dissatisfaction over the high rejection rate.
The development caused the leaf to fetch low prices at the start of the market this morning.
Before the market was stopped, the highest grade got $4.15 and the lowest fetched $0.50
At least 1012 bales are on sale on the first day.
