Ecobank will continue to contribute significantly to Malawi’s development as it remains confident in the economic reforms being implemented by the new government, visiting Ecobank group Chief Executive Officer Arnold Ekpe said on Thursday after meeting President Joyce Banda.

“As a bank we have experience and expertise to keep our operations afloat and make significant progress in its development and expansion agenda despite the prevailing circumstances,” Ekpe said.

He also said Malawi offers a good environment for business, particularly the banking sector.

The bank which prides itself as the pan African bank is currently operating in 32 countries on the African continent.

It was established in Malawi in 1998 by the Loita Group as a full-service merchant bank serving the business community.

Mr Ekpe met Reserve Bank Governor Charles Chuka and Finance Minister Ken Lipenga in Lilongwe on Friday morning.
