Police in Zambia have launched a manhunt for a man identified as Watson Ng’ambi aged 52 in connection with the murder of his wife Agness Chabala Ng’ambi aged 41 years.
Ng’ambi is suspected to have killed his wife on 19th April, 2019 between 22:00 hours and 23:00 hours in Kabanana Compound but after a long period of lying to his wife’s relatives that she had travelled elsewhere, relatives became suspicious and reported the matter to police last week.
The relatives reported to police that Ng’ambi received a call from his young brother and confessed to him that he killed his wife and was being bothered by the relatives to his wife on the whereabouts of the deceased.
He further told his brother that the body of his deceased wife was still in his house.
“Officers followed up the report and forced open the door to the house which was found locked and after a search, they found the body of the deceased in the bedroom under the bed wrapped in a black polythene plastic,” Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has revealed in a statement.
Katongo said Physical inspection on the body revealed that the body was half naked with a broken left leg and was in a decomposed state.
She said a machete and an axe stained with blood were found at the scene and are suspected to have been used in the act.
Katongo said the suspect is on the run and a manhunt has been launched.
She further appealed to members of the public with information about the whereabouts of the suspect should report to any nearest police.
