Former WWE longest Smackdown champion cum commentator John Layfield is in Malawi to help with the ground work of a sports complex which will cut across different sporting disciplines.

The complex is being built in rural Lilongwe to provide life skills education for the youth and sports programmes in basketball, existing rugby, netball and volleyball.

Richard Bennert founder of Bhubesi Pride Foundation who are chief architects of the project said they will partner with other organisations with expertise in various fields to offer the youth tutoring, adult learning, health care, information Technology and teacher training.

Bennert added the main goal is job creation.

Popularly known as JBL in the WWE universe, Layfield has spent time meeting officials on the best way of get the complex running.

On Tuesday JBL met the Central Region Education Division manager to talk about how they can work on complenting education and sports development in the long run.

JBL also went out in the streets to witness children play soccer and rugby.

Layfield retired from professional wrestling in 2009. He is now a television personality currently signed with the WWE on a part-time basis according to his Wikipedia profile.
