An angry mob in Chiradzulu burnt to death a 25-year-old man, Lucky Moffat at the dawn of Saturday, July 20 at Nguludi turn off in the district.
Chiradzulu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Vincent Khola confirmed the development, saying Moffat and his band of thieves went to Joseph Kamwendo’s house in the wee hours and broke into the house.
According to Khola, the suspected thieves failed their mission as the owner shouted for help where the surrounding community managed to catch the culprit while his friends fled away.
He said the matter was reported to Montfort Police Unit where a team of detectives rushed only to find him already dead.
Meanwhile, police are still hunting for the other culprits and the deceased body is being kept at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital awaiting postmortem.
Moffat hailed from Kwanjana Village in Traditional Authority Vumbwe in Thyolo.
