Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has vowed not to stop demonstrating unles Malawi Electorl Commission Chairperson Jane Ansah steps down.

the remarks were made by HRDC chair Timothy Mtambo when he presented the petition to presidential advisor oon Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Mavuto Bamusi yesterday after the Anti-Ansah demonstrations in the capital Lilongwe.

When presenting the petition, Mtambo gave president Peter Mutharika 5 hours to fire Ansah, of whiich the duration ended yesterday around 19:00 hours.

“We already gave petition but now we wonder why president Mutharika hasn’t fired MEC Chairperson up today, this is the last day for Ansah to resign because Malawians want her to step down” he said.

Yesterday was the fourth demonstration which HRDC organized aimed at forcing MEC Chair Ansah to resign for having a hand on the May 21 polls fraud.

HRDC and some political parties are calling fro Ansah’s resignation for mismanaging May 21 elections.
