Auditions for the first ever Mr. and Miss Albinism beauty pageant and talent show spearheaded by Association of Persons with Albinism (Apam) are in progress as the organisers seek to select the best for the event scheduled for next week Saturday at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
Apam Programmes Lead and Event Organising Committees Focal Person, Peter Kayenda, said Wednesday they were happy with progress after holding auditions in Mzuzu and Lilongwe.
“We already conducted auditions in Mzuzu and now we are doing auditions in Lilongwe today (yesterday). We are consolidating the information for now but we should be having the results by end of business today (Wednesday),” Kayenda said.
He said they had picked three in Mzuzu and that their target was to pick between 15 and 20 contestants for the event.
Meanwhile Kayenda said they would be holding auditions in Blantyre at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) Friday.
The contestants invited to auditions are persons with albinism between the ages of 18 to 35.
“We call upon those who would want to participate to come and audition at Jacaranda Cultural Centre in Blantyre, “he said.
The event, however will clash with the launch of musician Lulu’s album which will take place at the same venue on the same night but different halls.
Zambian musician B1, who has sparked with his song ‘Kwa George’, is expected to make a special appearance at the event as well as perform at Lulu’s launch.
