The Constitutional Court in the capital Lilongwe has today resumed the hearing of the presidential results election case after one week break.

The court has extended the meeting days from nine days to 14 days, according to Chairperson of the panel of judges in the Justice Healey Potani.

The development means the second-round of the case is to run from September 03rd to September 20th, 2019.

Speaking during the commencement of the case, Justice Potani expressed satisfaction with how parties have responded to checklists that the court demanded as one way of reducing witnesses and expedite the court process.

Meanwhile Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale who is also lawyer representing Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is continuing to cross-examine second respondent, Miriam Gwalidi.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Saulos Chilima are attending the court proceedings.
