Mangochi District Hospital Administrator suspended for using Ambulance to supply cabbages

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Mangochi District Hospital Administrator identified as Mr. John Phiri has been suspended with pay for flouting procurement procedures.

This has been disclosed in a letter dated September 18, 2019 signed Principal Administrative Officer for Mangochi District Council Dominic Mwandira seen by FOM’s reporter.

“I write to inform you that you have been suspended from duties with pay until further notice.

“You have been suspended from your duties because I have received a report against you regarding flouting procurement procedures. On Monday, 16th September 2019, you were caught by community members from Mangochi District with the council Ambulance Vehicle Reg. Number MG530AK with full of Cabbage coming from Ntcheu without the authority and knowledge of the Council’s Ag Director of Health and Social Welfare Services as well as the Controlling Officer. I find this as significant case as your conduct has put Mangochi District Council into disrepute,” reads in part the suspension letter.
