Two teachers have been accused of raping a blind girl, 15 for over two month period in a school for children with disabilities.
Chaman Thakor, 62, and Jayanti Thakor, 30, allegedly raped the 15-year-old girl in the school’s music room.
The string of assaults were only revealed after her family became suspicious when she was due to return to the boarding school in Ambaji, Gujarat after the Diwali vacation last month.
She broke down and confided in her aunt, explaining her ordeal at the hands of the two teachers.
The girl’s aunt then contacted the police detailing the assaults.
She told them she was first raped in the music room by 30-year-old Chaman Thakor two months ago.
The older man, Jayanthi Thakor, 62, then allegedly assaulted her in the same room three days later. There was one more instance of rape by the older Thakor on the day before an Indian festival.
The familial connection between the two men is unknown.
The girl had been enrolled at the boarding school in July to study music. She had studied up to grade eight in her home village.
In addition to chosen courses of study, the school offers vocational training for people with disabilities.
Police Inspector, Ambaji, JB Agrawat, told the Times of India that the two men had fled after their crimes were discovered.
They added that a manhunt is underway for the two Thakors.
The men were immediately fired by the school management after their crimes were revealed.
