Fire has engulfed Nyika Hostel at the Malawi Polytechnic in Blantyre.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The fire coincides with protests that the students have been holding today. Police were forced to fire teargas to disperse the students.
The students want management to address the security situation in their hostels.
