A man was arrested on Wednesday in Hyderabad,India for possession of illegal gold. The arrest was made by officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

The gold is priced at over Rs 66 lakh (about 92,571.14 $ ) and weighs around 1.7 kilograms. The officials said that they acted on a tip-off and arrested the accused.

According to the tip-off, a man was arriving in Hyderabad on a bus with illegal foreign-marked gold. The police are suspecting that gold was being smuggled into the country.

The officials are yet to confirm if the accused was just carrying the gold and was going to hand it over to another person or if he was the final recipient of the gold. The accused is being interrogated to find out how he received the gold.
