The hearing of the high profile Presidential election case has finally come at an end at the constitutional court in the capital Lilongwe, Faceofmalawi can reveal.
This follows a decision by lawyers for the first and second petitioner not to cross examine IT expert for Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Muhabi Chisi.
Chisi on Thursday was given 2 hours 30 minutes to do simulation before being close examined by lawyers for first petitioner Dr. Saulos Chilima.
The case has now adjourned until December 19, 2019 when the court will resume for final submissions.
Earlier, Judge Healey Potani gave a summary of the number of witnesses who have given sworn statements and those who have testified in court.
Justice Potani also addressed the question of how the court will arrive at its decision, emphasising that the decision will be made solely based on the evidence which has been given in court and what the law says. He added that the Court will not be persuaded to make a decision by public opinion.
Potani also gave a timeline on final submissions by the court. The various parties to the case have been demarcated specific time for their final submissions.
