Rumphi magistrate court has convicted three Chinese Nationals and ordered them to pay a fine of K7 million each for illegal mining.
The court has also ordered that the minerals which were taken from them be rendered to Government through the ministry of Natural Resources Energy and Mining.
The three are Song Chen Jian 50, Lihuaqi 37, and Lin Long 42.
A Malawian citizen, James Tembo 37 who was caught together with the Chinese was however released.
Spokesperson for Rumphi Police Henry Mnjere confirmed the judgment.
The four were arrested at Mthanzima Mining.
