A woman is living in fear after receiving death threats from a neighbour who accused her of gossiping about her alleged adulterous liaisons.
Sibongile Crewe from Bulawayo’s Trenance suburb is reportedly sleeping with one eye open after her neighbour Evylene Moyo threatened to kill her and her children as punishment for threatening to expose her infidelity by sending her husband “lewd” pictures of her with her alleged boyfriend.
Fearing that Crewe might live true to her threats, Crewe approached the courts and applied for a peace order against her.
“Evylene Moyo is disturbing my peace and marriage by threatening to kill me and my kids. She is coming to my house to fight me in front of my kids.
“On 2 December at around 7pm, she came to my house and started threatening me saying she was tired of my actions. She was talking about photos which I didn’t know about. She said she will kill me together with my children. I am now seeking help from the court so that she stops all those threats she is directing at me and my children. I am also afraid that she will live true to her threats of harming my kids and I,”said Crewe.
She further said their problems with Moyo started after she claimed her husband destroyed her window panes as punishment for turning down his love proposal.
“She also said my husband broke her window panes after she turned his love proposal. After those allegations I wanted to know what is really happening between her and my husband”.
In response although Moyo admitted that she confronted Crewe she however, denied that she threatened to kill her.
“I admit that I tried to fight her and what I deny is that I threatened to kill her together with her children. Problems started after she took photos to a certain vendor claiming they were mine and my boyfriend and she wanted to go and show them to my husband,” responded Moyo.
In his ruling and for the purpose maintaining peace between the two parties presiding magistrate Lizwe Jamela granted the peace order in favour of Crewe.
He ordered Moyo not to conduct herself in any manner which is likely to provoke the breach of peace. This compels Moyo not to insult, assault or threaten Crewe for the next 12 months and not to visit her house.
