Lilongwe Magistrate Court has granted bail to United Transformation Movement (UTM) member Dr. Jessie Kabwila.
Kabwila was arrested on Saturday night on grounds that she threatened Judges presiding over the Presidential polls case.
On Monday, Kabwila appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Shyreen Chirwa where she was formally charged of proposing violence at an assembly when she made remarks calling for the resignation of MEC chairperson Justice Dr. Jane Ansah.
The second count was ultering words of prejudice, when she made remarks on what would happen when the Constitutional Court hearing the Presidential election makes a childish judgment.
But Kabwila pleaded not guilty to the charges and her bail application was shelved for today.
When granting bail to Kabwila this morning, Senior Resident Magistrate Shyreen Chirwa ordered her to pay K20,000 cash bail bond, submit two traceable sureties worth K200,000 non cash.
Kabwila has also been asked to be reporting to Central Region Police on Tuesdays every fortnight and notify police whenever she wants to leave Lilongwe City.
