Unofficial results from yesterday’s parliamentarian by-elections for Lilongwe South Constituency are indicating that Peter Dimba of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has won.

According to unofficial results Dimba has scoped 11230 votes, coming behind is Patsoni Mthyoka an independent candidate with 1800 votes while Frank Mazizi of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP has got 1663 votes.

Another independent candidate Samson Phinifolo has managed to get 209 votes and is followed by MMD candidate Julius Chombwe who got 50 votes.

Meanwhile the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is expected to announce the official results for the Lilongwe South by elections on Friday in Blantyre.

The by-elections have been conducted following the death of Agnes Penemulungu, a united Transformation Movement (UTM) candidate prior to the May 21, 2019 tripartite elections.
