Some youth cadets for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) are protesting the move by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to appeal the constitutional court ruling nullifying the May 21, 2019 Presidential polls.
On Wednesday night, President Mutharika addressed Malawians through the State controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC tv) on the outcome of the court ruling where he said he has instructed his lawyers to appeal the case.
Mutharika said the ConCourt ruling signals the death of Malawi’s democracy hence the appeal.
But this did not please some DPP cadets who took the issue to the social media, quashing the move saying its waste of time.
Timothy Tay Cee Thomson wrote: “Mmm the wastage of time my fellow DPP..Note.. We still got Chance to re-win elections if we can accept to re vote but. Maganizo anu ndiokupha chipan..Pitilizan mugulisa ukulu Ku Utm muona..Ngat za UDF zija.”
Concurring with Thomson’s remarks Arthur Chadokota Nyasulu wrote: “Sometimes we might be busy doing things that may just cost our financial resources. If it was me who is close to bigman would advise him to say this is gone lets focuss the future n help each other how we can do to win next election. But this takes the nature of pipo around him.”
Another DPP cadet identified as Maganizo Ponyani wrote: “I don’t agree with this am DPP but this is nonsense why can’t we can win rather waste time to appeal how ever how many appeal have we lost during the court case aaaa total nonsense.”
Katiniche Hannec also wrote: “I love DPP but this stand of trying to challenge court Judgment should not be taken because we are going to lose our pride and superiority. Let us go and vote for victorious APM surely he is going to reclaim the sit not doubt.”
The Constitutional Court nullified the May 21 polls and called for fresh polls in 150 days.
