Over twenty-eight thousand flood victims are refusing to relocate to uplands in Nsanje, it has been learnt.
This comes after the district council ordered the people to relocate in the wake of a recent flooding situation in the Lower Shire district.
However, Nsanje District Commissioner Douglas Moffat insists that the government will ensure that the people at Makhanga forcefully move from the area.
According to Moffat, the people have not yet reckoned that their lives are at risk and that governments has been spending a lot of money to support them with relief items.
After the flooding, authorities moved the health centre to Osiyana, something that has led to the death of five children whose parents found it hard to access the hospital.
