Yesterday Social media was awash with reports that Mutharika is considering of appealing against the constitutional Court’s decision to dissolve his May 21, 2019 presidency victory which was later confirmed when he addressed the nation.

Mutharika last night briefly addressed the nation on what he considers to be grey areas spotted in the constitutional court judgment in which all the five judges determined that the Malawi Electoral Commission handled the 21st May presidential election with incompetence.

According to Mutharika, the judgment is a “Serious subversion of justice and an attack on our democracy system and an attempt to undermine the will of people”

The petitioners in the presidential case have said they are ready to face Mutharika again as their legal teams are ready.

Speaking to the press yesterday, Chilima said his team is ready to defend the victory they have been given by the Constitutional Court on Monday, February, 3 in Lilongwe.

Mutharika’s decision to appeal against the court to nullify May 21, 2019 poll results has stirred different views ad opinions as a lot of people are saying he (Mutharia) has been ill-advised.
