Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Commissioner Bishop Mary Nkosi has accused the electoral body Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah of making some critical decision during the May 21 polls without consulting other commissioners.

Nkosi disclosed this when she appeared before Public Appointment Committee (PAC) committee of Parliament this morning.

“We were not involved in recruitment of the auditors, and to tell the truth we were not happy with the quality of the auditors.

“MEC Chairperson Jane Ansah gave a go ahead to monitors and presiding officers to continue using the tippexed sheets. The rest of us Commisioners were not engaged on the decision, and to me I feel there was no justification on that,” said Nkosi.

PAC is meeting the commissioners following a constitutional court directive, after its five judges found MEC incompetent in the management of the May 21 2019 Elections.

The committee will be meeting the commissioners individually.
