Police in Lilongwe have arrested 29 people in connection to the looting and inciting violence in Mchesi and Biwi locations.

The suspects are between the ages of 16 and 40.

The key suspect is Blessings Makumba, popularly known as Rasta, he and others, allegedly broke into a shop at Kaphiri and stole property worth K2 million, some of the property have since been recovered from him.

The suspects are being held at Lilongwe and Kawale Police Stations, the suspects will be taken to court soon.

Some youths in Mchesi and Biwi looted shops mainly belonging to Burundi nationals with a false word that the latter were involved in the murder of some motorcycle operators whose bodies were found in the location.
