Two concerned citizens are expected to engage Lilongwe High Court over Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) commissioners’ resignation calls.

The two Aaron Kayira and George Ngwenyama through their lawyer George Kadzipatike gave MEC commissioners two weeks to step down.

This follows Constitutional Court findings which ruled that the commissioners were incompetent considering how they handled May 21, 2019 polls.

According to Kadzipatike, MEC did not meet the demands of the two, hence the move to engage the High Court.

He added that hi clients are expecting the High Court to order the commissioners to resign regarding with the role the played in the last elections.

On February 3, the Constitutional Court nullified May 21, 2019 presidential elections declaring the incompetence of MEC commissioners.
