Minister of Local Govt Tells Chiefs in Mangochi to Create a No-Go Zone Area for Opposition Parties

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ben Phiri has asked chiefs in Mangochi not to allow opposition parties to hold rallies in the district.

Phiri, who is also a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), took advantage of the coronation ceremony for the new Traditional Authority Bwananyambi which took place at Ndunduma Headquarters in the district on Tuesday

“I am asking for your full support to the government during the coming fresh elections. You leaders should not allow any opposition party to come and make rallies in your areas. Remember you belong to government,” he said.

The country is set to hold fresh presidential election on May 19 this year following the Constitutional court’s annulment the May 21 2019 polls
