Naotcha-Mtonda Ward aspirants councilors who stood in May 21 tripartite elections has differed for their failure to win the elections while Kumadzi said the elections were marred by irregularities while Machila said  his part was new in the area.

Speaking in separate interviews Kumadzi who stood as independent Candidate blamed Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for failing to manage to handle the electoral process.

“Some were declared winners while others declared losers but the whole process was not properly handled. The irregularities were not for Presidents only but also Parliamentarians and us Councilors,” he said.

Kumadzi further said because of irregularities he was heavily affected with the outcome but he was optimistic that come 2025 elections he will make it without doubt.

But Machila who stood for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket in the same ward said they was no supporting document to claim that the elections for councilors were tampered with but he lost just because the party was new in the area.

“I lost because I was selling the party which was new at the time but in 2025 elections I will win because I will be coming from Government side,” he said.

Seven Aspirant candidates contested in the elections who are Helmes Chimombo (DDP who won) Magreta (Independent) Sydney Yonamu (UTM) Mathews Machila (MCP), Renard Nsomba (UDF) Wilter Masamba (Independent) Dalitso Kumadzi (Independent)
