Reports reaching Face of Malawi indicate that President Peter Mutharika will assent electoral bills before the stipulated period elapses.

This has been said by Mutharika’s press secretary Mgeme Kalirani.

According to Kalirani Mutharika is assuring the citizenry that he will make a decision on the electoral reforms bills before the end of this week.

Mutharika has only three days left to assent to the bills as the law mandates the President to do so within 21 days.

The Constitutional Court recommended that Malawi moves from first past the post system of electing the President to 50-plus-one to ensure a President is elected by the majority.
