Dutch Medical Care Minister Bruno Bruins collapsed this evening during a debate about the coronavirus in the national parliament.

Bruins wobbled a little and got down on his knees, then one of his colleagues helped him up. After taking a couple of sips of water, Bruins left the plenary.

On Twitter Bruins said

“he suffered from faintness from exhaustion and intensive weeks. Now things are going better again. I’m going home now to rest tonight so I can get back to work tomorrow.”

The parliament has been debating the Dutch approach to the coronavirus since 1 p.m. with Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and Health Minister Bruno Bruins, Finance Minister Wopke Hoekstra, and Economic Affairs Minister Eric Wiebes. The debate was paused after Bruins left the plenary.
