Board chairperson of Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TEVETA) Gilbert Chilinde has expressed concern over delays that 2020 presidential polls may bring on construction of rural colleges.

He spoke this during the launch of Mphelembe vacation skills training facility in Mzimba.

Chilinde said the preparations of the polls may hinder the financial planing aspects of constructing additional rural technical colleges since the country needs money close to K43 billion to conduct the polls.

“Now the government has to implement the budget for the ordered presidential elections , this is the element that we have plan strong because the government focus is on elections as it is the agent one,” he said.

The government of Malawi needs a lot of funds to conduct 2020 polls as such, many government activities will be put on hold so that the available funds would support elections activities.
