President Peter Mutharika is running the risk of slowing down public service operations by delaying the appointment of a new cabinet.

The dissolution raised speculations that Mutharika would want to position UDF members in his administration following their political alliance.

Other schools of thought are attributing the dissolution to the continued infighting and divisions within the DPP.
